Rooted in the teachings of The Essentials of Islam by Imam Ahmed bin Zain Al Habashy, this course embarks on a foundational journey through the core aspects of Islamic belief, worship, and etiquette, guided by the principles of the Shafi’i school of jurisprudence.

About the Instructor

Shaykh Zakaria Abdelaziz is a graduate with honours from Dar al-Mustafa’s rigorous Alamiyya Program. The three-year program is the highest level of Shari'ah studies offered at Dar al-Mustafa in Tarim, Yemen, and is preceded by seven years of classical training in the ancillary, revelatory, and theoretical sciences.

Having completed ten years of meticulous full-time study with qualified scholars, Shaykh Zakaria was appointed as lecturer at Dar al-Mustafa from 2017 to 2018. He has been granted authorizations (ijazah) in the field of Canonical Qur’anic Recitations (‘Ilm al-Qira’at), Hadith Narration and Understanding (Riwaya wa Dirayat al-Hadith) and Islamic Law (Fiqh) in the Shafi’i School.

Shaykh Zakaria is also qualified to teach Qur’anic Exegesis (tafsir al-qur’an), Ethics (‘Ilm al-Akhlaq), Legal Theory (Usul al-Fiqh), Ilm al-Kalam (Scholastic Theology), Logic (Mantiq), Dialectics (Al-Bahth wa al-Munazara), Arabic Morphology (Sarf), Arabic Grammar (Nahw), Arabic Rhetoric (Balagha), and Arabic Literature (Adab).
